Busy Days

I haven’t had much time to update our blog lately.  I’ve been working on a full home organizational makeover.  I’m hoping to have it all finished soon, if life will stop throwing stones in my path.

Thus far, I have cleaned out the kitchen and reorganized our communication area.  I’m using a menu plan for daily meals now.  I’ve gone through about 75% of our clothing, put some on Ebay and donated others, as well as putting away the items that Laycie will grow into. 

To do on my list is to put the classroom back together, organizing the bookshelves, and going through all of the kids toys.  I also want to decorate for fall in the next week or so. 

I’m extremely happy that I have a replacement usb cord for my camera so now I can take new pictures for both home and this blog.  It’s the little things that keep me happy.

I was sitting around thinking the past few days that I’d also like to get back into reviewing, just to give myself something to do for fun. 

So that’s what’s going on with us now.  Hopefully, I’ll have some great future updates coming soon.

An Ouchie and a Wait

I haven’t been writing much later because I sprained (or jammed) my middle finger on my dominate hand.  It’s healing fairly quickly but it has been a lot of pain!

Currently, I’m sitting in my room waiting for our storage building to arrive (Finally and Thankfully!).  It will be nice to have a place to store all the extra clutter consuming our home, to be able to turn it into a normal house again. 

Waiting on something to arrive often leaves much time to think and that’s what I’ve been doing today.  I’ve been thinking about the past, present and the future.

I was looking at photos on one of my slideshows a  few minutes ago, looking and noticing HOW much my children have grown, how much they have changed in the past 6 months.  My baby girl has gone from a sweet cherub faced 1 yr old to a strong-willed, intellegent 2 yr old.  My oldest daughter has gone from a whiny brat (for lack of a better word! LOL) to a loving, caring, artistic, sweet girl.  My son has gone from a needy, unsure boy to a strong, take-charge, though still a little unsure, young man.  My world is changing daily for the better and I could NOT ask for more.

This year we will begin our first year of truly structured homeschooling.  We worked on this last year but not to the extent I have planned for them this year.  Previous years we have ho-humed, flitted along, barely learning but enjoying being a family and allowing them to enjoy being children.  This year our goals we are to learn to become structured, learn to balance our daily lives, repair our reading inadaquacies, work our way up to level in both reading and math, but enjoy ourselves along the way.  I think we can do this (as the little train says!).  I look forward to doing this, to enjoying this road we are traveling on and to loving my children and teaching them to love life and learning too.  NOTHING is better than that and I could not ask for more.  I’m thankful for these blessings God has given to me, thankful to Him for leading us to homeschooling and thankful for the impact this choice has made in my life and the lives of my beautiful children.

Now, time to get busy getting ready for school and for my soon-to-be-here storage building!

FOR TODAY

Outside my window the sun is shining brightly and the heat of the day can be felt through the shades covering the windows.

I am thinking about school planning, hoping to accomplish a lot this year.

I am thankful for my children who have truly blessed my life.

From the learning rooms we are preparing for school by keeping it simple and slowly introducing our studies back into our everyday life.

From the kitchen will be either sloppy joes or 4 cheese Rigatoni for lunch and pork chops, Rice-A-Roni, mac n cheese, corn and muffins for dinner.

I am wearing a comfy blue t-shirt with black shorts today.

I am creating plans.  Lots of plans for the house and school and life.

I am going to work on my kitchen clutter and classroom in a little while.

I am reading lots of blogs lately.  I enjoy the ideas that are being shared.

I am hoping that my headache goes away before much longer.

I am hearing the sweetest voices calling me Mommy and excitedly telling me what words they just wrote.

Around the house there is a mess that is slowly disappearing everyday.

One of my favorite things is the joy on my Two-dlers face when she does something she finds funny.  This girl is well loved and it more than shows! 🙂

A few plans for the rest of the week:  Organize, plan and get ready to paint the girls’ room.

  1. My Family – my children and my dog!
  2. The internet – what would I do without it?
  3. God – who plays a part in who I am.
  4. Reading – knowledge is an important and powerful thing in life.
  5. Homeschooling – or Independant Education, as I like to call it.  Love watching my kids learn!
  6. Olive Garden and their delicious meals (and yummy breadsticks too!)
  7. Handpainting – my release from stress.
  8. Hot baths – to soak away the day.
  9. Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream – nothing like it, especially in a milkshake!!
  10. Pepsi – my coffee
  11. Snuggling with my babies – brings happiness to my heart.
  12. My son asking for a hug – because he is not the affectionate one!
  13. My Princessa style – unique just like her!
  14. My baby’s sweet, clutching hugs – and how she says the word as she does it, so proudly!

  16. Comfy pants – that fit like a second skin.
  17. Reading blogs – an easy way to look into the lives of others and to learn so much about this crazy life!

Happy 4th of July {2010}

It’s been a while since I’ve made a post.  I’ve been extremely busy living the life. 😉

The littles are doing great.  They’ve had their summer vacation aka Vacation Bible School week away with their Aunt.  We’ve been swimming and playing our hearts out (when we can).  Last weekend was our 4th of July get-together and it was one busy weekend.  Still don’t have the pics uploaded. I’m on a new laptop (whoo-hoo!) and haven’t taken the time to upload the necessary software because I’ve had so much else to do.

Last Friday we went to a sweet little neighborhood cookout in the neighborhood of our good friends.  They had grilled a goat and some chicken.  The goat was interesting and surprisingly not bad at all.  It was my first time trying that dish!  We hung out there, with kids in tow, until well after midnight – watched fireworks, chatted up a storm and made stronger bonds with our good friends.  It was a lot of fun and we cannot wait to do it all over again sometime soon.

On Saturday, we did a bunch of stuff around our house to get ready for our 4th bash. 

Sunday – the Fourth – the BIG day… We hung out at home until it was time to head over to our Party Zone.  Guests started arriving around 2pm.  By three the party was in full swing.  There was a small pool for the little ones, complete with water guns and a slip-n-slide too.  We grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, with chips and homemade mac-n-cheese.  Sweet tea, Pepsi and Mountain Dew’s to drink.  It was great… family and friends really enjoyed themselves (at least we hope they did!).  We finished our day with a small array of fireworks, which the kids really loved!  Overall it was a terrific day and the climax to a wonderful weekend.

We hope that all of our friends had a safe and happy 4th of July themselves!  God bless each of you.

Change Change Change

This week has brought about much change in our lives.  I know I keep talking about change in all of my posts lately but this week really begins it all. 

What is change?  Coins that you get back from a dollar bill?  No, not this change.  Change is a new season in life.  A new beginning and also an ending to the old ways.  Change is not always welcome but it usually turns out to be for the best. 

My change comes on the official ending of a bad relationship and the beginning and continuous of a new one.  My change comes out of choice, a choice to no longer be who I was but to become who I was meant to be.  My change also comes out of my need to do what God wishes for my life, following His divine guidance into where and what He wishes me to be.

So my biggest questions have been where to begin and what next?  My Mom is on her way to Florida to be settled with my brother’s family, leaving me not having to worry about her for now.  I’m settled in my new home, though I have much to do inside it still.  So where to begin next and what to do?

First, each day I have been taking time to pray to the Lord and to read my daily devotional from https://www.proverbs31.org/.  I find much inspiration in these devotionals and sometimes I read two because I enjoy them so much.

Right now, I have much to go through, get rid of and put away in our home.  I also need to set up our school schedule again, which in light of MaMa’s visit, has fallen to the wayside.  But admist the chaos school cannot be completed, so the first step is managing and containing the clutter obtained in the past few months and a lifetime of memories which should have departed long ago. 

Now, I am by far no housekeeper (though it is one of my legal jobs).  I can keep a house for you, your sister, Mom, friend but I have a terrible time managing my own home.  It always ends in disaster for me, a cluttered mess.  This is something I truly want to overcome.  And that is one of my recent life goals: to learn to manage my home, time and children’s lives better, thus managing my own life better.

So I’m on a search for bettering myself and my home skills while connecting ever more towards my Heavenly Father.  I’m following His path, His guidance… and right now He’s telling me the past is past and it’s time to get started.  Wish me luck!
