Oh my… {Thoughts from Me – March 19, 2010}
It’s official… I’m overwhelmed with all the housekeeping and school, plus my college. I just can’t seem to get it together lately. If I’m cleaning house, I skip schoolwork and if I work on school with the kids, cleaning house gets skipped.
How do I manage all the demands of life?
Add to this, my sinuses are killing me thanks to the beauty of Spring. I love this season but it is NOT my friend, allergy-wise.
The phrase “so much to do, so little time” keeps flitting through my head.
Well, I’m off to do a little research, a bit of organizing and some thoroughly, deep cleaning which I will be continuing until I feel things are properly in place again. Ta-Ta for now.
Busy Mom’s Bible – Week 3
Busy Mom’s Bible – Week 3
I’m a little behind on sharing week 3’s lesson but here goes anyway.
I chose to read the section on our Heavenly Father this week. The key word is as you guessed: Father. The shared scripture is Mark 10:15-16.
This scripture tells us to be child-like when it comes to Heaven. My take on this is that we should have a child-like, joyous heart and allow our Heavenly Father to parent us. This is also about trust: trusting each other and most of all trusting God. Trusting him to be there and to guide us as a parent does their child.
In fact, we should all take the time to turn to God as our Father, to listen to what he has to say and follow His ways. Imagine yourself resting your head upon the shoulder of God and let his heavenly Love heal all your pain and trust in His word and Love for us all.
Every Day I’m in God’s Presence {March 15, 2010}
“Every day I’m in God’s presence, and He will provide for me!” ~ Susie Larson, Growing Grateful Kids – a book I am currently reviewing.
How true these words ring! Have you ever thought about the times you have been in need in your life? What lead you through those times? Think about those times you just felt LOST. Was the right path somehow provided? And how about the times when you had a little less than you needed. Did you somehow find enough?
I’ve been through many days when I wondered why I was even here on Earth, what I was going to do to make it through. Somehow, someway I have always been able to find my answer to those questions. Those little trials seemed so big at the time but now, in hind’s light, they seem small.
My little mustard seed of Faith has always seen me through, even in my darkest hours. Every day I was in God’s presence, and every day He provided for me. Even today, He is still providing.
How has He provided for you???
This World We Live In by Susan Beth Pfeffer {Book Review}
Susan Beth Pfeffer
Picture a world where life is no longer as we know it, but instead, due to a catastrophic collision our moon has created a blah, grey world of lifelessness, death and uncertainty. This is the scene that Susan Beth Pfeffer portrays in The Dead and The Gone, Life As We Knew It, and This World We Live In, the third book of her series.
This World We Live In tells the story of Miranda, a young girl whose family is trying to survive in the disastrous aftereffects of a global catastrophe a year after it happened. Miranda’s family has to learn to work together, accept life as it now is, to love and persevere at all costs, even in death. They also learn along the way that family is not always who is related by blood, but instead who is brought into your life in times of struggle, for reasons beyond our own knowledge.
I really enjoyed reading this story, as it kept me captivated throughout. The wonder of how this family would survive through the changes in weather, what they would find as time passed on, and how they were going to make it through after such harrowing circumstances made me to not want to put this book down. It left me wondering what if the world was to suffer a catastrophe, how would we survive? Would I be as strong as Miranda and her family? I can only hope that I would indeed have as much courage and faith as the family portrayed in this book.
This World We Live In by Susan Beth Pfeffer will be available around April 1, 2010 through Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishers, retailing, in hardback, for around $17. Recommended for teens, some content may be a bit too graphic for youth under 13 years of age.
