Busy Mom’s Bible – Week 3

March 19, 2010 by Dana

Busy Mom’s Bible – Week 3

I’m a little behind on sharing week 3’s lesson but here goes anyway.

I chose to read the section on our Heavenly Father this week. The key word is as you guessed: Father. The shared scripture is Mark 10:15-16.

This scripture tells us to be child-like when it comes to Heaven. My take on this is that we should have a child-like, joyous heart and allow our Heavenly Father to parent us. This is also about trust: trusting each other and most of all trusting God. Trusting him to be there and to guide us as a parent does their child.

In fact, we should all take the time to turn to God as our Father, to listen to what he has to say and follow His ways. Imagine yourself resting your head upon the shoulder of God and let his heavenly Love heal all your pain and trust in His word and Love for us all.

Busy Mom’s Bible – Week 2

March 9, 2010 by Dana

Last week I spent a little time reading through my Busy Mom’s Bible.  I find the tips in this bible very interesting and helpful.  Just the inspriation a Busy Mom needs in this day and age.

This week I spent a little time reviewing the second devotional quick-set.  This section is on Protection.  The key word is Protected and the Bible verse is “The Lord will fight for you; you need only be still.” Exodus 14:14

It speaks of how the Israelites were afraid to leave Egypt but Moses convinced them to stand strong and allow the Lord to fight for them.  It tells us to stand still and allow the Lord to fight for us, as the Isrealites had allowed Him to fight for them.  In all things, God is there and He is standing and carrying us through all Life’s turmoils.  Even as the Lord appears NOT to hear or be around, in the end he is always there, always guiding, carrying and leading His children through this life.  Protecting us from Evil and harm, even in the times it seems Evil and harm are all around.

Protection, as a Mother protects her child, God protects us, His children.  What a great thing His protection is!  What a blessing to have protection from someone as awesome as our Heavenly Father!

Busy Mom’s Bible – Week 1: Day 2

March 1, 2010 by Dana

I’m a little behind with this post which was supposed to come a few days ago but our littlest angel was sick so it couldn’t be helped.  Thankfully, it was just a little cold and she’s so much better now.

During this reading of the Busy Mom’s Bible, I reviewed the Reflect & Pray section of the Creator.  First, I reread the 1 minute lesson on God’s Creation of the Earth and then I read the Reflect & Pray to build upon what I had read.

God created EVERYTHING.  He created the Earth.  He created the moon and Sun.  He created you and me and everything living thing.  His imagination and creativity is an amazing thing to behold.

He created my beautiful children.  He sculpted them into the gorgeous little beings they are.  He gave them their personalities.  Winston, my shy, skittish boy.  Emmalee, my stubborn, outgoing social Princess.  Laycie, my queen bee, who gets her point across rather quickly when she’s got her mind set upon it.  God gave them each these qualities for his own wonderful purpose.

As for me, God gave me to ability to love these children.  He gave me the creativity to design for them fun rooms that fit their personalities.  He allowed me the artistic ability to photograph these Angels, somewhat decently, to share their uniqueness with the world.  He gave  me the gift of being able to artistically paint when I put my mind to it.  He blessed me with the opportunity and brains to be able to teach my sweet babies daily in our home.  I’m truly blessed to have such an imaginative Father, who shaped me into a creative person, much like himself.  His love for me causes my Love for Him to shine through and to grow and build everyday.  It flows into my children and out of them into their little worlds.

God’s Love is immense and infinite.  Truly we are blessed to have His Love and to share in that Love with Him.

I’m thankful He is the creator of all and that He chose to create me and the wonderful life I am living.

Busy Mom’s Bible – Week 1: Day 1

February 24, 2010 by Dana

Today was the first of my 6 week reading experience with the Busy Mom’s Bible from Zondervan.

I opened the Bible and read from the first 1 minute Thought Starter, where I was introduced to God, the Creator of All, through Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

The word to carry with me today, and until I move on in my study of this verse, is created.  What does this mean?

Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary lists created definition as 1) to bring into existance, and 2) to produce through imaginative skill.

In the aspect of God’s creation, I think this definition definitely fits.  God indeed brought into existance, through imaginative skill, a world like no other, giving us all life, just as He had planned it.

I look forward to going into more depth with this lesson tomorrow.

The Busy Mom’s Bible {Zondervan Review}

February 22, 2010 by Dana

I just recieved my new copy of the Busy Mom’s Bible from Zondervan in the old fashioned home mailbox today.  I was excited to see the package stuffed in amongst my television and phone bills, letters and magazines.  The box on the outside looked like a normal cardboard covered package with a lovely label from Zondervan on the front.  It was well taped to ensure that it did not become damaged, damp or exposed to the elements as some mail can be, especially on rainy days like today.
When I came into the house from my mailbox trip, I quickly ripped open the odds and ends of other mail and then put the scissors to work cutting through the tape on my new gift from Zondervan.  Inside the cardboard shell, I found another box covered with a sturdy cardboard wrap with photos of Mom busy-ness, as well as tips from the Bible company itself on use of this product and a reminder to blog about the Busy Mom’s Bible.  As I unwrapped the shell and glanced over it, I wondered what it hid underneath.  I quickly found it held yet another box.  This one sturdly made, much like a box that holds Christmas cards or the best presents from your Dear Aunt Susie.  Indeed, this box held a wonderful gift, but not from Dear Aunt Susie.  This gift was from Zondervan and God, a book containing His word made just for me, a Mom.
Before opening the box, I expected to find your average Bible, nothing exceptional.  Boy was I wrong!  Upon opening the box, I found a BEAUTIFUL fucshia, deep brown, and pink leather covered Bible.  Wow, I thought, this book was made for me!  I began looking inside the Busy Mom’s Bible to find 52 seperate Thought Starter, one minute devotionals, each directed towards a different part of the Bible and also a different part of life.  The idea is to concentrate on one concept, one devotion each week.  There are also 5 minute Reflect and Pray studies and 10 minute studies to expand upon each 1 minute Thought Starter offered during the week, as time permits.  Both the 5 minute and 10 minute studies send you to different sections in the back of the Bible for expansion of your lessons through verse.
Busy Mom's Bible, Review, Bible for Moms, Zondervan
The Bible text provided in this book is the New International Version (NIV), originally the NIV True Images Bible.  All the original text is provided, as well as maps to expand the Word, abbreviations list, and the Concordance.  A Weights and Measures chart is also provided in the back of the book and an alphabetical list of included Biblical books is provided in the front.  Two other things I found interesting are the sections 5 Minutes Reading About Jesus and 5 Minutes Reading About Women Of the Bible, located on pages 1173-1174.  I look forward to using these when I have an extra minute of reading time.
My plan for this book, is to read a different Thought Starter each week for the next 6 weeks and see where they lead me.  I have spent the past few weeks searching for a devotional to use daily in my life, to help bring my heart closer to God and I feel this is the perfect book.  I am interested in seeing just how the Busy Mom’s Bible will effect me.  The outer appearance of this book is gorgeous, but my question and mission to find out, is the inside just as good?
You can find a copy of the Busy Mom’s Bible at Zondervan.
