July 2016: Update from Us {Thoughts From Me}

July 21, 2016 by Dana

I know I haven’t updated in quite some time.  When you have four kids with special needs life keeps you busy.  Not to mention not having internet at home for almost a year.  Thankfully, things are now looking up and I’m happy to say I’m back.

What We’ve Been Up To:

Last month, Mimi had surgery on both her feet to correct her toe-walking.  She’s been in casts ever since.  In a few weeks, the casts come off and she’ll be placed into orthotics for a while.  In the meantime, she’s going to therapy several times a week, gaining strength so she can relearn how to walk once her casts are removed.  So far so good.
I’m really proud of Mimi.  She’s fought hard to come through this surgery and get back going.  She’s excited for the opportunities this will allow for her life and so am I.  We’re both looking forward to some field trips this fall when the weather cools off and she’s got some experience and healing behind her.
Win, Laycie and Jack are all doing great.  Win’s earning rewards for a PS3 which he’s excited for.  Laycie is working on earning a 3DS by completing her schoolwork and chores without complaint.  Jack is learning so much every day.  He can tell you dinosaur names and what they eat.  He is now recognizing words.  But his absolute favorite thing is fishing.  This boy loves to fish!  He can name the lures and is learning to throw his line like a pro!  He’ll be out fishing his Daddy in no time!

What’s Coming Up:

I said a while back that I was planning to change our blog name but I’ve since decided to keep it since we have a well established blog and so many followers.  So we will remain Luv’N Lambert Life though I may alter it a bit in the future.
We now have internet at home so this allows me to get back to blogging and sharing in groups, among other things.  I’m so excited about that because I have dearly missed everyone!
I have several book launches that I’m participating in over the next few months.  I’m so excited to share those with you all.  In fact, my first will be coming up very soon so keep an eye out.
I have some plans for developing some special things for Luv’N Lambert Life.  I’d like to develop some printables and maybe some images to share.  I’d also like to create a few series posts to share with you guys.  All in good time though.
For now, bare with me as I get back on track and back to sharing online.  I hope all of you are well and am praying for each of you.
God bless,
Dana

September Update {Epilepsy Awareness}

September 30, 2014 by Dana

Life is been full of doctor’s appointments for us lately.  It’s  not leaving a lot of time for other things to be done.  Being on the road is definitely time consuming but of course, my children’s healthcare is more than worth it.

Jackson started Parent Child Interactive Therapy a few weeks ago.  We are doing great with this therapy and have already passed through the first part of the series after 2 weeks of sessions with our therapist.  We are now moving on to the next step which is to give Jackson demands and work on his temper issues, as well as building discipline.  We hope this will help both us and him learn to better deal with our day to day and also help with his breath holding spells. Time will show us if it does or not.

Emma sees the neurologist this week as well.  It will be our first visit.   We hope he will be able to tell us why she is toe-walking since no one can tell us that.  Once this is done, we will move on to repairing her toe-walking.

Last week we ordered Jack a helmet.  Hopefully, it will be done soon and we will be able to use this for both of his therapies.  It will be great for his headbanging as well.

Laycie and Winston are doing great right now.  No issues for them which is wonderful.

That’s it for a current update and where we are at with our day to day issues.

December Update from Us! {Thoughts from Me}

December 23, 2011 by Dana

Our life is pretty busy right now with the Christmas Holidays, a looming 11th Birthday and lots and lots of doctors appointments.  Christmas will be past this weekend and the lovely summer-like weather outside leaves us feeling more like Christmas in July than December.  There definitely will not be a White Christmas for those of us in Georgetown, SC this year!

Next Wednesday, my handsome son is turning 11!  It’s been a fight just to keep his day free of doctors appointments for his sister but Momma has been insistant that they leave my boy’s big day free and clear for him alone.  It’s so easy to get lost in the shuffle when two of your sisters have health issues.  I have always tried to make sure that his day is special, especially when Christmas also steals so much from it, too.  So this year we will be having his party on his big day complete with a sleepover with all our good friends.  And we can’t wait!!

As for the doctors visits, my sweet Emmalee is keeping us busy, not with seizures this time but instead with her toe walking.  Her doctor is sending us for a quick MRI of her spine to be sure it isn’t tethered causing her to toe walk.  Then back to her office on Thursday for a full physical and hopefully the results of the MRI which I pray are negative.  After the first of the year, depending on the results of the MRI, we will have more appointments with more doctors to repair whatever is going on with my beautiful girl.  It promises to be a busy New Year for us in 2012.

So we will definitely be busy this coming year with school and doctors and simply loving life together.  Bring it on, 2012… we impatiently await your arrival with cheer!!
