Busy Again These Days {Thoughts From Me}

November 21, 2013 by Dana

I have taken a few days away from writing blog posts, except for reviews, and I’ve been concentrating on my photography for the past week.  I’ve also been working on our family’s tree and doing some much needed housework.  The mix of everything has definitely been keeping me busy.

The photos are coming out great and I have several shoots lined up in the next few weeks which will be keeping me very busy now the Crew year has ended.  It’s been great learning new things, editing and seeing images “pop” in ways I never expected.  I’m finding that I am enjoying taking pictures again.

The family tree has also been fun.  I’ve learned so much about our ancestors that I never expected.  It’s been interesting to learn where we came from and telling the kids stories I’ve come across about our various ancestors.  They’ve enjoyed the history and the family relations as much as I have.

I am excited for all the new ventures in our lives and the Holidays that are coming up as well.  It’s a busy but fun life.  It’s fulfilling and I find that I’m once again Luv’N Lambert Life.

Busy Week for Us {Thoughts From Me}

June 27, 2013 by Dana

Don’t know if you noticed but I gave the blog a makeover last week.  The green was up for a long time and I was extremely tired of the look, so I created a new look using blue.  Not sure how long I’ll leave this one up but I like the site a lot better now.

This has been a busy week for us.

Monday I completed a review item that took me all day to create.

Tuesday we took a trip to Charleston for Laycie’s neuro appointment and we had a field trip day.  We left Jackson with Grami and the big kids, Grandma and I went to visit Charles Town Landing and the Angel Oak.  It was a lot of fun and there is a blog post coming about that day very soon.

Wednesday, I played rest with Laycie who was exhausted from Tuesday and also played catch up with wedding photos that I have not had a chance to work on since Laycie’s seizure two weeks ago.

Today, I am working on catching up things that are behind in the house: laundry, dishes, cleaning in general.

Tomorrow night I have a wedding rehearsal to attend and photograph and Saturday is the big wedding event which I’m totally excited to be photographing for the beautiful bride and groom.  So tomorrow will be spent prepping by cleaning the camera lenses, charging the battery, making sure memory cards are clear and packing up all the things I need for the event.

This week has been full of excitement but fulfilling in life.  As soon as it slows back down, I will play catch up with our blog posts.

Baby Has A Name {Thoughts From Me}

May 9, 2012 by Dana

This week I have been sick with a head cold so I haven’t managed to get a lot done around the house.  I finally gave in and got some Tylenol Cold to get rid of my cold before it gets worse and spreads to the kids.  Needless to say, I have learned my lesson about sleeping underneath my ceiling fan when it’s allergy season!

This week has been a lax and lazy week for us.  We had our usual therapy appointment and we’ve had several phone calls to set up our next set of appointments but we have managed to stay home this week.  I’m still waiting on the call to set up Emmalee’s overnight Video EEG but I’m sure it won’t take long for that to happen.

Emmalee is having an overnight Video EEG to see if she is having the same spikes throughout the night that Laycie has.  If so, this would explain why she has trouble sleeping and functioning first thing in the morning and possibly why I do too.  Knowing how her brain is working also helps me know how to set up her days to work best for her and us as a family.

As a photographer, I’ve really been wanting to take my camera out with the kids to take some new pictures.  The other week I bought a new tripod so that I can capture family pics with the kids, as well as take better maternity pics of myself before this sweet boy of ours arrives.  Unfortunately, the head cold and the weather have been against me making this happen!

Speaking of my sweet boy, I don’t think I have mentioned that we have chosen a name: Jackson Lucas Lee Lambert will be arriving in late August.  In the past week, my belly has really popped out and baby Jack-Jack has made his presence known.  He’s a super-duper kicker, giving me strong thumps throughout the days and nights.  He also loves listening to his big sister sing to him every day, as his strong kicks tell me every time he hears her voice.

Last week I got in a little thrift store shopping and found Jackson a Winnie-the-Pooh bassinet/bedside sleeper and matching swing.  There were bonus sheets included.  Both make soothing music to help him sleep.  I also scored a like-new wipes warmer to keep his wipes warm when I clean his little tooshie.

We are thankful to all the recent clothing donations we have received from various local families in our homeschooling assocation, VBHE.  These loving gifts allow me the extra money to purchase the other things we need to bring Jackson home, like his new bed, as well as continue to provide for his older brothers and sisters.

I am very thankful to feel a bit better today though I’ve still been pretty lazy.  I’m more than ready to get back into my normal daily life.  I hope this update finds everyone well and in good spirits.  May you have a blessed week yourselves!!

My Photography {Photo Reflections}

June 19, 2011 by Dana

Growing up, I would never have thought I would end up with an interest in Photography.  I hated having my picture taken, hated taking photos of others.  It was not something I considered fun at all.
In high school, I took the offered Photography elective only because I needed that class to cover my requirements for graduation.  I learned a lot about cameras and imagery from that class.  I, also, learned to look through the lense and “see” more than just a picture.

In the years that followed, I only took photos when necessary at family events.  I had no interest or reason for taking photos otherwise.
When I found out I was pregnant with my son, I began to think more about pictures as I wanted to capture every moment of my son’s life.  After he was born, I would take his photos often with my 35mm camera.  After a while it became hard to keep up with developing these images so I bought my first digital camera, an HP from Walmart.
I immediately grew to love my HP camera and my interest in photography began to blossom.  As my son, grew I wanted to learn how to edit his digital photos to capture the best quality possible.  I wanted to capture every single moment of his life, every tear, every smile.
When my oldest daughter was born my love of photography grew even more.  I now had two babies to take pictures of.  Money was limited and purchased portraits were not an option for us.  I quickly realized I could take my own photos of my children to make up for their lack of professional portraits.
It was at this time that I began to realize I had fallen in love with photography.  I loved working with my digital images to build beautiful portraits and create art with our memories.  My lack of interest had turned into a love of this art form.
I have spent the last 10 years dabbling with photography.  It’s been a slow process because of my daughters challenges, but every day I get a little bit better at it.  It is my hope that eventually I will be able to start my own photography business but for now I’m just happy snapping photos for my family and friends, making their memories last a lifetime.

30 Day Journal – Day 20: A Hobby Of Mine

August 20, 2010 by Dana

Day 20:
A Hobby of Mine
I think yesterday’s post pretty much summed up my talents and hobbies.  I love to handpaint things.  I love to take pictures.  I love to home educate my children.  Those three things are my main hobbies and they help me keep my sanity in this busy world.

30 Day Journal – Day 19: A Talent Of Mine

August 19, 2010 by Dana

Day 19:
A Talent of Mine
I have three in particular.  One is photography, one is hand-painting ceramics and the last is making hand-decorated cakes.  I started hand-painting ceramics when I was 11 or 12 years old.  I love the detail and creativity of taking something blah and turning it into Wow!  I began baking cakes at age 12 just for something to do.  I inherited my Grandmother’s baking skills and rarely have a cake turn out badly.  I make my icing from scratch so it always tastes fresh and yummy.  My photography hobby came about when I had children.  I love to take their pictures and capture the special moments in their lives forever.  All three of these things are a huge passion of mine that I someday hope to put to good use.
