ICB Prayer Bible {FrontGate Review}

February 27, 2018 by Dana

We were gifted the ICB Prayer Bible by FrontGate Media a little while back in exchange for review.  When I agreed to this review, I had no idea how beautifully designed this Bible would be.  Y’all, when I say it’s gorgeous, it’s GORGEOUS!

The Bible is a beautiful light pink with gold stamped flowers in a ring pattern, and The Prayer Bible written in the same lovely gold.  What you don’t see in the image above is the beautiful irradescent sparkle that is splashed throughout the pattern of circles and dots on the image above.

This is an International Children’s Bible meaning it’s written in a format that children can understand and it can be used internationally with children from all over the world.  What a GREAT thing?!  Sharing God’s Word through this beautiful Bible with children from all over the world.

This precious full size Bible reminds me of the ones from my childhood.  It is designed with pages of quotes and scriptures inside.  The design shared on the front of the Bible is continued in the pages throughout the Bible itself.

There are also questions and answers shared throughout the Bible to help teach your child the importance of what they are reading and further open the discussion for your family.  This is a great way to grow and share together.  We loved these sections that were placed throughout the ICB Prayer Bible.

As a bonus, this Bible included a Prayer Journal that is a separate booklet from the Bible itself.  This is a great way to begin teaching your child to pray for others as well as learn to write prayers.  Fill it with your child’s own special prayers.

This beautiful ICB Prayer Bible in pink from Tommy Nelson is available for $22.99.  You’re little girl will love it.  There’s also an adorable boy’s version of the ICB Prayer Bible available in blue for purchase as well.

The One Year® Devos For Teen Girls {Tyndale Review}

May 5, 2017 by Dana

The One Year® Devos For Teen Girls

Tyndale House Publishers

As a Mother of a teen girl, I’m often looking for devotional resources to reach my child’s heart.  I want them to learn Biblical value.  I want them to learn God’s Word and the best way to do this is through books like the The One Year® Devos For Teen Girls.

This 384 page devotional was written just for teen girls.  This is a handbook for young girls in the very fast-paced world of today.  Featuring current and modern topics that young women can relate to, this devotional helps young girls maneuver their life while learning important Biblical lessons on the path.

The One Year® Devos For Teen Girls is written by Dannah Gresh who really brings God’s word to life for teen girls.  She has a big sister way about her, sharing her wise advice mixed with God’s own word and relating it to issues that girls face today.  Gresh brings to the forefront all of today’s sticky topics like sexuality, love and lust, bullying, self-worth, and hypocrisy.  Things girls need to learn in today’s unstable world.

I grabbed this book for my own teen to ensure she had a stable understanding of these subjects matters and how God feels about them through Gresh’s direction shared within the pages of this devotional.   She’s really enjoyed reading and relating to the subjects shared within the book.

To grab your own copy of  The One Year® Devos For Teen Girls, you can purchase straight from Tyndale House Publishers for $14.99 in softcover.  An eBook is available as well.

Bible Belles: Esther The Belle of Patience {Propeller Review}

June 27, 2016 by Dana

Bible Belles
Esther the Belle of Patience: The Adventures of Rooney Cruz
Written by Erin Weidemann
Bible Belles is a wonderful book series written to speak to the hearts of young girls and teach them about magnificent women of the Bible.  This series reaches out to teach your children the struggles these women went through, showing their strengths and the gifts they carried to get them through their trials.  Bible Belles shows young girls how to persevere and become triumphant simply by following God’s direction.
In Esther The Belle of Patience, Rooney Cruz is upset when one of her teammates places an I in TEAM.  This particular teammate seems to be all about herself, not thinking of the team that works hard to play together.  Rooney wants to talk with her coach about it but she’s not sure how to approach the subject at hand.
Mari, Rooney’s gaurdian angel who teaches her all about God’s provisions and wisdom, shows up just in time to help Rooney work through her anguish in expressing her feelings about her teammate.  Mari shows Rooney the story of Esther, the Queen who faced the serious challenge of saving her people and herself from death.  Through this story, Rooney learns patience and to find the right timing when she has something important to get through.  In the end, Rooney finds the right time to talk with her coach about her teammate and when she does, she feels a lot better about herself and helping her team become a team again.
I read this story with my youngest daughter several times and she really enjoyed hearing all about Rooney, Mari and Esther.  She learned a lot about being patient and listening for God’s guidance in things she needs to make happen.  This is definitely a book we will be reading again and again.  I will also be adding more Bible Belle stories to our book list as soon as I can.
This series of books is wonderful.  I often try to add in books about strong biblical woman for my daughters into our reading curriculum and Bible Belles has made that easy for me to do.  I look forward to teaching my girls more through this series as we go.

You can purchase Bible Belles: Esther The Belle of Patience online through the Bible Belles website!  The price for Esther The Belle of Patience is listed at $14.99.  It’s well worth the price!
Don’t forget to check out the wonderful Freebies section of the website as well for bonus materials to use with the books!

Barbour Publishing: Diary of a Real Payne: True Story {Crew Review}

October 25, 2013 by Dana

From Barbour Publishing, I bring to you Diary of a Real Payne: True Story.  (Read that with a deep, theatrical voice.)  This book was so much fun to read.  Written for children ages 8-12, this is one book your readers will surely enjoy!
A few things we like about Diary of a Real Pain:
  1. The star of the book is Emma Jean Payne.  As most of you know, Emma’s a name favorite around here and the short version of my own sweet Emmalee.  We actively seek out books using her name for her to read, so she was pretty excited to receive this one.
  2. Emma Jean, otherwise known as EJ, lives in a super small town – the town of Spooner in Wisconsin.  Population 2500.  The town I grew up in, where my own Emma was born and lived the first years of her life, has a population of 2465.  Georgetown, South Carolina, where we currently live, has a slightly bigger population of 9092.  Still a small town in my book.
  3. EJ plays an angel in the Christmas pageant somewhat reluctantly, as did my Emma, joyously when she was a little girl.  Their age is a bit different but my Emma enjoyed this shared fact.
  4. EJ has a Cockapoo Mix dog named Matthew Cuthbert T-Rex Payne and Poodles are a favorite of my Emma’s.  Emma’s dog is a black lab named Hunter.
  5. Emma LOVES to journal in her diary and so does EJ.  Reading EJ’s journal has actually helped Emma fine tune hers and helped her to create better entries when writing.  She is always jotting things down and now she’s doing so even more, including clippings, drawings and so many extra’s that she never did before.
As you can tell, Emma and EJ have a lot in common and that makes a great book in the eyes of my 10 year old.  Emma really enjoyed reading the Diary of a Real Payne: True Story by Annie Tipton.  She enjoyed the illustrations throughout the book.  She enjoyed the diary sections which made her feel like she was really reading EJ’s diary.  She felt like she had a friend in EJ, as the story unfolded.
Emma looks forward to the second story in this series which is set to release in March 2014.  This book is written from a Christian perspective so even though EJ’s antics may not always be the best, they have the best interests at heart to guide my children in the lessons they learn through Emma Jean.  That is a wonderful, blessing in itself.
This is a book Emma cherishes and will one day pass on to her little sister to cherish as well.  She’s already read some of it to her and shown her the pictures drawn within.  The illustrations have peeked Emma’s art interest as well.  She’s considering drawing for children’s literature at this point but ever the artist, she is always changing her mind.
Want to know more about what happens in Diary of a Real Payne: True Story?  Well, you will just have to read it for yourself.  Diary of a Real Payne: True Story is very reasonably priced at $5.99.  Get your copy today!
