Bible Belles is a wonderful book series written to speak to the hearts of young girls and teach them about magnificent women of the Bible.  This series reaches out to teach your children the struggles these women went through, showing their strengths and the gifts they carried to get them through their trials.  Bible Belles shows young girls how to persevere and become triumphant simply by following God’s direction.
In Esther The Belle of Patience, Rooney Cruz is upset when one of her teammates places an I in TEAM.  This particular teammate seems to be all about herself, not thinking of the team that works hard to play together.  Rooney wants to talk with her coach about it but she’s not sure how to approach the subject at hand.  
Mari, Rooney’s gaurdian angel who teaches her all about God’s provisions and wisdom, shows up just in time to help Rooney work through her anguish in expressing her feelings about her teammate.  Mari shows Rooney the story of Esther, the Queen who faced the serious challenge of saving her people and herself from death.  Through this story, Rooney learns patience and to find the right timing when she has something important to get through.  In the end, Rooney finds the right time to talk with her coach about her teammate and when she does, she feels a lot better about herself and helping her team become a team again.
I read this story with my youngest daughter several times and she really enjoyed hearing all about Rooney, Mari and Esther.  She learned a lot about being patient and listening for God’s guidance in things she needs to make happen.  This is definitely a book we will be reading again and again.  I will also be adding more Bible Belle stories to our book list as soon as I can.
This series of books is wonderful.  I often try to add in books about strong biblical woman for my daughters into our reading curriculum and Bible Belles has made that easy for me to do.  I look forward to teaching my girls more through this series as we go.

Apologia: Journeys of Faithfulness {Crew Review}

As most know, Apologia Educational Ministries, Inc is one of my absolute FAVORITE Christian curriculum companies.  I have yet to own an item from Apologia that I did not love.  Journeys of Faithfulness is included on that list of books and curriculum that I love.

Journeys of Faithfulness was written by Sarah Clarkson, author of Read for the Heart: Whole Books for Wholehearted Families.  This wonderful book was created to be a bible study for young women to learn about the women of the Bible who have journeyed through faith before them.  This study goes deeper to show strong the strong relationships with Christ, sharing the stories of  the following women: Mary and Martha, Ruth, Esther and Mary, Mother of Jesus.

The stories in Journeys of Faithfulness are thought provoking, as well as interesting.  Sarah Clarkson has a way with words that captivates the reader.  She draws the reader into the stories, leaving them wanting to learn more about the woman in the story, as well as their relationship with God.

My daughter is nine and I chose not to use this book with her at this time, but instead I found myself reading through and enjoying the stories inside.  Journeys of Faithfulness is a book I have longed to read for quite sometime but was unaware existed.  It is a storybook, a devotional, a bible study – all in one.

The book is broken into four parts, one for each of the women it details throughout.  The book itself is 232 pages long with room for writing answers to the study questions.  Note pages are included throughout for extra writing space, and for writing out thoughts as you work through the book.  Important thought and statements are highlighted throughout the book in bold.

After reading through this amazingly written book myself and working through the bible study, I have decided that I will begin using it as a devotional and bible study for my daughter very soon.  We will work through it together and use it to bond.  It will also (hopefully) bring her closer in her relationship with God.  I look forward to sharing with her the stories of Mary and Martha, Ruth, the beautiful Esther, and Mary, Mother of Jesus.

Thirsting for More {Thoughts from Me}

I just finished watching A Night With The King, the story of Esther, Queen of Persia and was immediately reminded of this post I have been meaning to write.  (BTW, that was a REALLY GOOD movie!) 

I am currently on a quest to fill my heart and my mind with knowledge of the Heavenly Father.  I have a thirst that I am in need of filling, to learn so much about Him and what He wants for my life and that of my children and family. 

Recently, I read Out Live Your Life by Max Lucado and I plan to re-read it again in the future, taking more time to study each chapter as Lucado meant it to be read.  I’m also anxiously awaiting my recently gifted (won) copy of Feminine Appeal from Jasmine at Far Above Rubies (see sidebar for link to this wonderful site!)  Today I purchased (online) a copy of Passionate Housewives Desperate for God and I can hardly wait to dive into to it when it arrives.  I’ve ordered several books for the kids also, that we will be working on together.

I feel God pushing me to learn all I can about Him and His wants for me.  I want to learn to be the Proverbs 31 woman He wishes for me to be.  I want to teach my daughters and my son to be all God wishes for them to be, to have patience and love beyond normal expectations with God leading their life.  I am so very excited to be following His loving guidance onto this path that He’s leading me upon.  I can’t wait to see how it changes and improves our lives.
