10 Things to Do With Your Preschooler {Homeschooling}

February 22, 2018 by Dana

10 Things to Do With Your Preschooler:

1. Talk a walk.
We love long walks to see the world.
2. Grow flowers.
They are fun to watch grow and fun to pick when they bloom.
3. Play with blocks.
You can build a fort, or a castle, or a car track.  Let your imagination go wild!
4. Play with cars.
When you finish building your block track, race a few cars along it.
5. Playdough
I was not a fan of playdough when my oldest kids were little but it’s since grown on me.  Make animals, shapes, and other things your imagination comes up with.
6. Kick a ball.
My littles love to kick balls down the hallway or outside.
7. Dig a hole.
Dig and see what worms you find among other things.  Make mud pies.
8.  Wash toys.
We like to wash our toys.  It teaches needed skills for homekeeping and is just plain fun.
9.  Read a book.
Books help the mind to grow and helps your child open their imagination to a world of fun.
10.  Build a fort.
Use chairs and a blanket to make a fort for your child to play beneath.  Join in to see tons of smiles and happiness.

We hope this list gave you some great ideas to use with your preschoolers.

Until next time…
Dana

Armed With Truth Temporary Tattoos {FrontGate Review}

May 10, 2017 by Dana

For this review, we were sent some goodies from Armed With Truth.  Armed With Truth provides quality temporary scripture tattoos that are safe and non-toxic.  You can share and wear the word simply by placing on one of their many tattoo designs.

For this review, we chose the Comforted collection from the Verse Ten Pack Tattoos collection and the Grace Tattoo by Patrick Maxcy from the Designer Tattoo collection.  All of the temporary tattoos were well designed and easy to apply.  You simply peel off the plastic cover, place against your skin or wherever you’d like to place these, and  then place a wet cloth (I used a napkin) to saturate so they peel off with ease.

These tattoos last 3-5 days.  I placed mine on my hand though and found it only last me 2 days because of frequent hand washing.  The second time I tried them I placed them further up my arm with better results.  They lasted four days that time.

My children also liked these tattoos.  They enjoyed the verses shared by them.  It was a great way to spread and share the word with others.

Our set contained verses from Psalms and other comforting verses from the Bible.  There were tattoos with longer and shorter verses.  All of the tattoos were encouraging.

From the Designer collection, we received the Grace tattoo.  I loved this one!  It features the wing of an angel, much like my personal wing tattoo I have on my back.  They were small size wise but great for a shoulder or upper arm.  I chose this image because of my love of Angel wings and the strength they show.  Grace brought that same feeling to me when I saw it and when I wore it as well.

You can purchase your very own set of temporary tattoos in a style that fits you from Armed With Truth for $10.99 for the Verse Ten Packs or $4.99 for the Designer Collection.  With any Verse Ten Pack Collection, you receive ten temporary tattoos.  With any Designer Collection tattoo set you receive two tattoos in the design requested.

For our readers, Armed With Truth is offering a 20% off coupon if you use the code luvnlambert at checkout.

Clued In Kids: Halloween and Winter Treasure Hunts {Crew Review}

October 30, 2014 by Dana

When Helen Bertelli was a little girl she had a big dream.  She wanted to create Treasure Hunts to share with people every where.  After she had her two beautiful children she made her dream come true and created Clued In Kids.
We received two wonderful treasure hunts to use from Clued In Kids: Halloween Treasure Hunt and Winter Treasure Hunt.  These treasure hunts are designed to be used with families and friends who are various ages, though I would say these two hunts are for younger children mostly.  They are great fun for all who use them though.
Halloween Treasure Hunt and Winter Treasure Hunt are both in PDF form so they are easily printed and can be used with multiple students and family.  These would be great for a classroom or a small party to use just for something fun to do.  We, of course, used them as a family and the kids had so much fun!
Each hunt begins with a title page, followed by simple instructions on how to use the hunt with your family or your students.  Each hunt also has an answer key to help you, the instructor/helper, determine if the answer is correct or not.  There are also tips for you to help  make the hunting process go smoother as you complete each treasure hunt.
As you set up the hunt, you will see how each clue feeds into the next making finding the clues easy and fun.  Even the youngest of children can complete these treasure hunts with help from the instructor to make participation fun.  All of my kids enjoyed working through the clues and helping one another find the correct answers as we completed the treasure hunts.
Halloween Treasure Hunt is, of course, designed to be completed around the time of Halloween.  If you don’t celebrate Halloween then, of course, this would not be a treasure hunt you will wish to complete.  Our family loves Halloween so I knew this one would be perfect for us!
Halloween Treasure Hunt is not scary and simply gives clues for things like pumpkins, ghosts, witches and more in a non-frightening manner.  The treasure hunt items used are things like brooms, milk, the dishwasher, among many more.  This particular hunt shares 12 clues.  The length of time it takes to complete this hunt will depend on how quickly your family or students can decipher the clues.
Winter Treasure Hunt is completely Winter related.  There are also 12 clues in this hunt.  Items used are things like your coat, socks, gloves and more.  Places used to hide items are with the shoes, forks, crayons and many other silly places.  This hunt is a little funny and fun because it has your children put their items on a bit wacky at the end and that’s definitely a lot of fun!
Halloween Treasure Hunt and Winter Treasure Hunt are both PDF files which can be printed again and again.  They can also be used for multiple students/family members.  Both Halloween Treasure Hunt and Winter Treasure Hunt cost $5.99 each which is an excellent price for so much fun!

ChessHouse: Starter Chess Learning Kit {Crew Review}

October 16, 2013 by Dana

As soon as I saw ChessHouse.com on our vendor list, I knew this was going to be a great review for my family.  I personally love to play Chess and my kids follow right along behind me.  What could be more perfect for us than to be able to test out this product!
I wasn’t sure what we would receive, of course, until the Vendor form went up.  I was so excited to find the product we would be receiving was the Starter Chess Learning Kit.  This kit has everything one needs to begin learning about Chess.
It didn’t take long before our Starter Chess Learning Kit arrived.  I immediately handed it over to my 12 year old son, because I knew this was going to be the review for him!  He opened the box cautiously as he does everything and wasn’t at all sure what was inside.  As soon as he unzipped the case though, he knew just what he had gotten and boy, was he thrilled!
We received a tan/green camo case.  It’s soft and comes with a strap or handles for carrying.  The color was perfect for Winston, who really loves hunting and first thought it was a case for his hunting gun.  Inside the case are several zippered pouches, each containing the Chess pieces to use for play and instruction.  They are black and ivory like most Chess sets.  There is also a vinyl, roll-up Chess board.  Winston LOVED that it rolls up so he can carry it with him to his Grandmother’s or his Aunt’s house, or wherever he’d like to play.
Of course, the set also comes with an instruction booklet and extra pouches are built into the case for holding the instructions.  There is also room to hold lesson DVD’s which our set came with.  We received a DVD copy of Elliott’s Chess School Pawn Level 1 with our kit.
Elliott’s Chess School Pawn Level 1 is amazing.  The kids really enjoyed the simple but thorough instruction.  Even Grandma said she learned from this easy to learn and listen video.  It provides instruction on each of the Chess pieces, how to avoid mistakes and prepare for success in playing Chess, along with important game strategies.
Pawn Level is the beginner level of video instruction but there are additional levels available for purchase for more advanced players.  Because the kids kids loved this instructional video so much, we will be purchasing more of these DVD’s to further our Chess education.  The video series is appropriate for ages 4 and up.  It is 49 minutes in length.
I cannot express how much we love ChessHouse.com or our Starter Chess Learning Kit!  It’s been one of the biggest hits from our review items this year.  All the kids have enjoyed it from my oldest to my youngest and as I mentioned above, even Grandma!  It’s an educational tool that everyone can enjoy!

Everyone learned so much just by watching the lesson DVD and each additional time they watched, they were able to learn even more.  The DVD has truly taught Winston so much about this game that he so truly loves to play.  He’s even competition for me now!  It’s wonderful.

You can purchase your own Starter Chess Learning Kit set for $39.95 plus shipping.  Additional instructional DVD’s are also available.  The Starter Chess Learning Kit comes with the Full portable Chess board with pieces and a DVD copy of Elliott’s Chess School Pawn Level 1.
