God Had Other Plans For Me Today {Thoughts From Me}

March 27, 2018 by Dana

I woke up this morning with a list of things to do that was a mile long.  I had ever single intention of getting it done.  I truly did.

But God had other plans for me.  Not one single thing on that list got done today.  Not one.

But you know what?  That’s okay!  God had better plans.

Three friends came to me with needs today.  They needed a friend and sometimes that’s just what we need to be.  A true friend to others in their times of need.

Today, I helped a Momma figure out how to start her journey with homeschooling.  To me, that’s just awesome!  I can hardly wait for her to start this journey.  She and her children are going to absolutely love it.

Today, I helped a friend who is heading for divorce.  Her heart is broken.  God is carrying her daily.

Today, I helped a friend who is being harassed.  She’s upset that women would try to destroy her credibility and ruin her good name.  Bullying doesn’t stop with high school, y’all.

Today, I listened as a friend complained that their job is challenging and their life is in shambles.  They just needed a listening ear.  Someone to care for that moment.

This is the list God had planned for me today.  Nothing that was in my plans got done but everything in his is.  And I hope, I pray that I helped each one in the best way that I could.  I listened. I responded. I prayed. I was a friend.

How has God changed your plans recently?  What did you get done with His guidance that wasn’t on your list?

Cold and Spring {Thoughts From Me}

February 8, 2018 by Dana

It’s been cold here in the South.  And being the Southern Belle that I am, I simply despise the cold.  Rain, sleet, ice, snow… all of that stuff is not for me!  I prefer the warmth of the Sun, the hot sand on the beach or a nice walk up a mountain trail.

This cold has been keeping us in.  Along with the huge Flu outbreak.  No one’s got time for that mess!

Thankfully (and knock on wood!) the Flu has not found our house and I hope greatly that it won’t.  We have had the sniffles this week and sinus headaches which tells me that Mother Nature is sending Spring on the way!  This is the side of Spring that I do not enjoy.

But I do look forward to butterflies and bees and birds, to walking trails and seeing things we’ve never seen before.  I look forward to all the awesome weekend events we will be able to participate in very soon.  Field Trips are a homeschoolers DREAM!  Learning at it’s finest!

So I’m excitedly looking forward to Spring and all the new beginnings that it brings us in our new home.  I look forward to bonding together while camping and making smores by the campfire again.  I’m looking forward to fishing and seeing my husband catch the “big one” somewhere we’ve never fished before.  I’m looking forward to learning new things, seeing new sights and enjoying these years that I have left before my children are grown and ready to move on.

Until next time…

God Knows Best {Thoughts From Me}

April 29, 2017 by Dana

I started this week with the best of intentions.  I had planned to share with you all of the great sales going on this week.  I had planned to set up posts ahead of time and have them all ready to go.

But…

Life happened.  Other things had to be done.  I haven’t had the time to do the things on my to-do list at all.

It’s been a hectic week but even though I haven’t been able to get my plans done, I was still able to get a lot done.  Other things have fallen into place.  Sometimes God makes changes we don’t realize and for a reason.  His plan is always better than our own.

So even when life happens and things don’t go as planned, remember that God’s always there, always making plans for us that are best whether we think so at the time or not. God’s always leading, always loving us and always choosing what’s in our best interest.  Even when we don’t, He knows the way.

God bless,
Dana Lambert-Hodge

Life’s Journey {Thoughts From Me}

December 30, 2014 by Dana

The world can change in a blink of an eye and life can change in a simple heartbeat.  Nothing stays the same and we must always keep going.  Moving forward, looking for the next step, the next path we should take to continue on.

Life’s a journey.  It’s a time traveled, well walked path that takes us onward even when we aren’t ready to move on.  Things end, new things begin and somehow we all make it through.

We aren’t given a choice to live.  We are born.  We move inch by inch every day to find our worth in this world.  Our existence and purpose is ours alone to glorify that which we cannot see.

Simply put, we live because we are born to live.

There is no magic way to get through the days.  There is no winner.  There is no competition.  We are here to be here for one thing only: God’s Glory.

Sometimes we forget this and need just that small reminder where we are slightly knocked and sometimes pummeled by the trials set forth upon us to make us into better people.  Our lives are ours to live but they are ours only to bring forth the beauty of the Human Spirit and breath God in the day to day for others to see His existence and His love through us.

God is the most important aspect of this World.  All things must come back to him.  Life cycles until we find Heaven again, from the beginning through to the end.

God is the glory and the joy of the world.  Faith in Him leads you to where you should be in life.  Never give up hope.  Hold on to that single mustard seed of Faith and let him show you where you should go as you travel through this journey called Life.

Redirection {Thoughts From Me}

October 28, 2013 by Dana

I’m at a point that I need to refocus and find redirection in my life.  It excites me that the crew year will soon be coming to an end and though I’m anxious to start the next one, if I’m welcomed back in return, I will be happy to have a little break.  Please, someone remind me of this after two weeks of no reviews, as I’m sure I’ll be chomping at the bit to work again!

I simply need a break.  I am wanting to sit down and plan some things to do for Thanksgiving and Christmas next month.  I want to spend that time enjoying my children.  Life is short, time is short and days are passing quickly.  I want to enjoy my children and create memories before these days have passed.

And so I’m making big plans for my time off.  Plans to work more in the house.  Plans to play more with my kids.

I must refocus my life, adjust to some new findings and allow myself to find the direction I need to be traveling in.  I will allow God to guide me where He wishes me to be.  Until then, I’ll be listening and waiting for the answers I’m seeking and enjoying what the days have brought to me.

June 2011 Update

June 6, 2011 by Dana

The month of June has brought out the heat in South Carolina.  Hot days, hot temps, simply hot, hot, hot.  Not that the kids seem to mind.  They are enjoying days filled with water sprinkler fun, swimming in the river, playing outdoors games like kickball, baseball and bike riding.  Their only dislike is how hot it already is outside.

Emmalee’s puppy is growing like crazy.  He’s already two inches taller than Claire, our Cocker Spaniel.  He’s annoyingly loving and lots of fun.

The kids have been getting a lot of hands on nature study with the extra outdoor time.  We’ve been watching areas we’re hanging out in for Poison Ivy and Poison Oak and finding it sometimes, thankfully avoiding it.  We’ve seen new babies flying, swimming, crawling everywhere.  Caught minnows and tadpoles in the river and pond.  Even helped clean out the overgrowth surrounding our pond so that we can enjoy time fishing and playing on the banks.

I haven’t been able to go to bed early and sleep through the night because of the puppy’s needs.  This is also reflecting on getting up early which I haven’t been able to manage due to not being able to o to sleep early.  I have been reading my devotional book daily and reflecting on the things I have read.  This is such a blessing since I can’t seem to get much else done while chasing a toddler and a puppy during the day.

I’m hoping to be able to get back to work on my list soon, working on my goals.  I have several ideas for new blog posts that I’m hoping to be able to get into writing.  We have new curriculum to start working on and the kids are super excited.  We have plans for swimming, boating, fishing throughout our summer.  July we are heading to Georgia to visit family.  It’s going to be a busy month but we are more than ready.

Bring on Summertime in June.
