As a parent, I often find that though Easter is all about Jesus, and God, and their amazing love for us, sometimes Jesus’ story gets lost behind that adorable bunny rabbit.  As a parent, I also know that bunny is not the center of the reason for Easter.  God’s Love and His gift of His Son is.  I’m always, always looking for books to share with my children, that teach the truth of the Holiday instead of the story.
Tell Me About Easter is an adorable board book with felted pages that share’s the story of God’s Love for us.  The book isn’t terribly long.  Just the right length for your toddler or young child.  Each and every page is loaded with felted, soft texture that you and your child will enjoy. 
This book builds up the story of Easter, beginning with Spring, speaking of the joys that Easter’s anticipation brings to us.  It ends by sharing that Jesus died and he rose to show us God’s amazing love.  It brings together all the joys and hope of Spring and of God’s love as well.
Tell Me About Easter is a B&H Kids book.  It is available in bookstores and online for around $9.99.  The book itself is absolutely adorable and would make a great edition to any home library.

As a Mom, I am always looking for great books to add to our home library.  I especially love books that are holiday themed.  I also love books that share God’s love with my children.

A Very Happy Easter Prayer by Bonnie Rickner Jenson is the perfect book for Easter.  The book itself is gorgeous.  The front cover is slightly textured which makes the book look beautiful with it’s shimmer and sparkle.

Natalie Moore out does herself with the adorable, yet beautiful imagery on each page of this absolutely wonderful board book.  The pages are filled with daffodils, picnics underneath the big tree that’s featured on the book’s cover, tulips with bee hives and so many more lovely things to see.

The cover features a trio of rabbits but the book inside is filled with many great animals: bees, a fox, an owl, a duck, a moose, a bear and so many more.  This book is about God’s wonderful world, so much more than just the rabbits.  You’re child will love seeing the love these animals share as friends and through God’s love as well.

The story itself shares thankfulness for Spring, for rain and gentle breezes. It shares thankfulness for bluebirds and dandelions and honey bees.  It shares thankfulness for fluffy bunnies, for adventures and for Jesus’ birth and love.  It shares thankfulness for all the things that make Easter morning special.

This is a lovely book that would be a great addition to any family library.  A Very Happy Easter Prayer by Bonnie Rickner Jenson is from Tommy Nelson Publishers and is part of their A Time To Pray series. It sales for $8.99 in bookstores and online.

Spring is in the air where we live and this means that Resurrection Day is coming up fast as well.  I am always looking for great ways to teach the kids the meaning behind our holidays while keeping it fun and interesting.  Katie Hornor has created a wonderful Easter Activity and Coloring Book appropriately titled: Resurrection Day.  
Resurrection Day: An Easter Activity & Coloring Book is a English/Spanish coloring book that contains 30 pages of fun for yourself or your child.  This book is jam packed with activities from word puzzles to letter formation to coloring pages, all in one book.  The last few pages are in Spanish but are easy to decode for those who may not have any instruction in Spanish at this point.  
The English version of this coloring book is published by Paradise Praises, a company ran by Katie and family.  The Spanish version of this coloring book is published by the sister company, Lemonhass.  Both are wonderful activity books that you will love using with your little ones.
I love the simple designs in this coloring book and the formatting for the writing inside.  They are impactual enough to capture my child’s attention but not overwhelming.  And as I said already, they are simply fun!

Egglo Entertainment: An Egghunt Experience Like No Other {Crew Review}

Last year we were given the opportunity to review Egglo Eggs and other products for Egglo Entertainment.  We loved the company’s products to much that we agreed to use them all over again this year!  Egglo Entertainment creates products that are exceptionally fun to use.

In our family, we’re always looking for fun new items to use with our children.  We love having celebrations and gatherings that allow the kids to play and enjoy childhood.  We also love finding things that teach along with having fun.  

For this review, we were given a full set of Egglo Glow In The Dark Easter Eggs.  There are a dozen eggs per set.  These eggs are wonderful.  Made like regular Easter eggs, they come apart in the middle and are easy to open and close so you can fill them with treats and fun things.  Best thing though is these eggs GLOW in the dark!  That’s right – you can hide them and see them at night.  You can even play hide and seek egg hunt inside with the lights out.  
These eggs also come with beautiful designs etched on the plastic, which shows as they glow.  They are charged through light like most glow in the dark products.  The colors are shine beautifully as they are used.  
In addition to the eggs, we received a copy of The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure.  This is a 40 page, full-color book all about Easter by Darcie Cobos.  It’s illustrated by Golden Street Animations.  The illustrations are eye-catching and gorgeous!  We have read this book over and over because it is such a great story to read and share.
The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure helps connect the use of Easter eggs to the story of Jesus by sharing the Gospel in an easy to understand and simple manner.  Following Hardy, Anastasia, Pascal and even Zeke the dog around as they search to find these glowing Easter eggs.  Each egg they find shares a bit of Jesus’s story throughout the book.  Children learn from the adventures of these three children as they read the story. 
We also received a set of Egglo Treasure Scripture Scrolls.  These tiny little mini scrolls share the story of Jesus and provide some extra fun for children.  We stuck them inside the eggs to allow the kids to look over them and enjoy as we did our hunt.  
In addition to all of the above materials is the Egg-cellent Easter Adventure Program Guide.  This is a one time download of all the curriculum necessary to use with the Egg-cellent Easter Adventure program.  This includes coloring pages, extra scrolls to share, mini paper Easter eggs, activities to complete, recipes for themed snacks, and so much more!  There are 60 pages in this curriculum set.
My children have truly loved playing with these eggs over the past year.  We haven’t just used them at Easter but at several events.  They were so excited to receive a new set of eggs for this review because that allows us to have more eggs for them to find.  And at a $9.99 value, you can’t beat the price!  We look forward to continue using these eggs and the other wonderful products that go along with them over the next  year.

Happy Easter, Y’all! {Thoughts From Me}

We had a wonderful Easter weekend and we hope that you all did as well.  We weren’t sure how it was going to turn out since the entire weekend forecast showed that rain was coming.  Sure enough it rained off and on from Friday night until Sunday afternoon.

The rain didn’t stop us though.  Friday night I finished up shopping for the Easter baskets, gathering some last minute fun for the younger kids. I also found a cute Easter dress for Emma which she then transformed into her own clothing style.

Saturday, I spent lazying around until late when I put together the Easter baskets.  There’s just something about playing that “Bunny” that I love!  And the kids love it too!

We had a last minute invite to an adult birthday party for a friend on Saturday.  I quickly threw together a cute little banner for her which we hung on the wall where we had the party.  She loved it and we loved celebrating with her.

Sunday morning came with a lighter rain.  The kids actually let us sleep in before grabbing their baskets to open.  They found a lot of excitement in those wicker baskets which always makes me happy as well.  Lots of candy they love, and some special trinkets like a stuffed My Little Pony and a Littlest Pet Shop toy for the girls.  There were Star Wars bunny’s for the boys.  Jackson got a mini-golf set and there were toy water guns for a little summer fun.  The kids were thrilled and so are we with their happiness.

Sunday afternoon was spent in Belle Isle, where we had dinner consisting of Ham, Deviled Eggs, Broccoli, Rice, Biscuits and so much more.  It was delicious!

Then we had our annual Egg Hunt.  Over 300 eggs were hidden for the kids to find, all stuffed with candy.  They found every one and then divided up the goods, making trades for candy they liked better and sharing with the little ones who didn’t get as many eggs are the older kids.

So as you can tell, we all had a very Happy Easter and we hope you did as well!

Easter Weekend 2011

We had a great Easter weekend.

My weekend started on Thursday night when the best friend stopped by to spend the night and have me help her with her hair.  So we stayed up all night (until 5am Friday morning) taking her braids out and combing out her hair, while we watched tons of great movies on Netflix.  It was a fun girls night though it was a lot of work.

Friday, we went to town like normal.  We had chinese for dinner and brought it home to watch movies, bake cakes and wait for my Mom to get here.  She arrived around midnight and I spent the night talking with her until 4am.  It was great to see her and the kids loved knowing she was back home for now.

Saturday we had our Easter gathering with family.  The traditional dinner and egg hunt.  It went well and all the kids had a great time.  I think the Easter visit is their favorite of all the dinners throughout the year.

Sunday we hung out at home and rested.  The bunny brought the kids each a little something: a sand pail, bubbles, coloring books, a toy, crayons and candy.  They really loved their simple gifts.  Late in the afternoon we went to visit family friends.  The kids were able to hold the sweetest puppy.  They really loved that.  Afterwards we went to Walmart just to look around and bought some extra holiday candy, as well as some movies and various other goodies. 

Overall, it was a very relaxing weekend for us.  We focused on family more than anything.  Simply being together.  I honestly feel that was just what we needed to feel refreshed for the month ahead.
