I Know It is a interactive website that helps your student or child improve math skills as they learn. This is not a full curriculum site but is a wonderful supplement for math education that helps to encourage your student to process, learn and build upon the skills they are learning in Math through the curriculum that they are already using either at home or in their classroom. Combined with their current study, this fun site helps the child practice what they are learning as they go.
The website is developed to be used with kids from Kindergarten to 5th grade. It’s digital and interactive with lots of fun characters to encourage your student’s learning as they play. It is common core aligned and encourages students to learn at their own level, building with them as they go.
Family pricing is available for the site. It is $90 per year for one parent and four children. Additional children can be added for $8 per child per year. There is also a school and district option for purchase, as well as a single-teacher membership available.
They also offer a 60 day FREE trial!
The website works great on all devices but is a limited program on phones. You can play it on your tablet, laptop, iPad or similar device easily. It is easy to set up and use.
To set up the program, simply create a parent account. In your parent account, you will be able to set up your account, as well as those of your students. My Account will show you the details of the account. For instance, I have a family account which it says in my information. This area also shows me when my account began, was renewed and when it will end. It also shows me lesson and email settings which I can change as needed.
The next tab shows me my children’s accounts. Here I can see the grade levels they are working in along with their ability levels. I can check their progress, see when they last logged in, see which lessons they completed and which they haven’t finished. I can also see their total scores and assess how they are learning, which skills need more practice and what skills they are doing best or worst in.
As a parent, I am able to assign lessons on skills that my children need to learn. I can choose from different grade levels, pick the lesson and assign each student a different lesson to practice or the same lesson if needed. I can remove or add lessons as the student works through the program as well. I can also view their progress on lessons, both individual progress and assignment progress to see how they are doing and how many more assignments need to be completed for them to finish the work assigned.
As a parent, I can test out and work through the animations and lessons as well to see how they work and gauge how much interest my students may have. It’s a great review of early math skills for adults as well as children. I hope to see it advance to older grade levels and also other subjects at some point in the future.
So my older kids are a little too old for this one seeing as they are both in high school but I did set them up for the higher level of the program to help them review regular math skills. They found it fun and helpful and have said if they had this program when they were younger they’d have enjoyed it a lot.
My younger two kids got the most use from the program because they fall in the age range for the lessons. The lessons were easy enough to follow along with. There is a button that reads the program to your child so they can listen to the lesson and respond accordingly. This was great for Jack who is still learning to read.
Both kids were able to work on the lessons with little input from me. The levels are appropriate for each grade and it is easy to make changes if the program seems to be too much for your child in your account settings. When your child makes a mistake with their answer, the correct answer is shown and the reason why is also shown so your child can easily see their mistake. When your child gets the answer right, the I Know It robot will dance to encourage them through animation to move to the next question. Hints are also available for your child to use as they work through the questions.
This program is really great for lesson review and boosting math skills. It’s simple but fun to use and very encouraging, especially for young kids which it is designed to encourage. Your family will love the program!
