On this day, 39 years ago, at 6 in the morning, I came into this world. Some days, I can hardly believe I’ve lived for 39 years. It doesn’t seem so long when you’re young at heart.
Where has the time gone? Days pass fast. My kids are no longer babies at 17, 15, 10 and 5. Like me, they grow older quickly but they’ll always be my babies.
This year, I asked for a desk and a file cabinet. Both of which I now have. And I love them greatly. I needed a place to write and I needed a place to store our paperwork for school – a tremendous help for organizing our home.
I know today I will have my homemade tree cake, baked by my beautiful daughter, Emmalee. She will have her baby brother and sister help her with stirring the mix and icing the cake once it’s time. And we will eat and share in the joy of her efforts. I love this part of my day each year. It’s tradition, my cake.
I’m not sure what this year will bring for me. My last year before I turn 40, a milestone that I actually look forward to. I am thankful that I have another year to live, to laugh with my family and to love them. I’m thankful for good friends and for this new place we’ve found ourselves in. I’m thankful we have a good life and I look forward to the memories we make every day. And I’m thankful that I have lived another year with God guiding my way.
Many blessings,
Dana
